Happy Holidays Scott and the rest.
Hey Scott drop me an e-mail some time I lost your address. I have been working with some pretty cool virtual instruments this last year. Kinda of dorky but I like it :-) anyway I put together a couple of riffs here: http://www.riodelltimes.com/Nexus
currently I am back to school studying pre law so I can better fight the Neo Cons in court lol. Hope all is well. Keep up the great work!
Merry Christmas, Steve, Sharon, Richard, Marylynn, Shauna, Michael, and Craig.

Finally got thru the whole CD bunch and I liked them all but LUNA and INLAND EMPIRE are my two favs. The feedback I've gotten from friends I've passed the site on to have overwhelmingly picked LUNA as their fav. So, now on to the live recordings, I love your version of 'IN MEMORY OF ELIZABETH REED' was always one of my favorite tunes anyway.

Gentleman, as I was passing through Ashland Friday night and needed to bite to eat & perhaps a drink or two so I happened into the Jefferson State Pub. I wasn’t expecting to hear any music, but you guys were playing so I had no choice. Damn you young people with your damn loud music!! Damn you all!! However, after a song or two I realized you were good, or I mean not bad for a bunch young people. Anyway, I had a pleasantly nice time. Well guys, it was another killer show last night at Sam Bond’s Garage! They played a semi-acoustic show that really kicked ass. deadwood revival opened, and if you haven’t seen these two before, make sure you do soon; they're really good. Here’s their website www.deadwoodrevival.com . deadwood revival is Jason who plays banjo, guitar, harmonica, and sings and Kim who plays guitar, bass, and has an incredible voice. Anyway, back to Silas, the Cheapest Hope was probably one of the best versions I’ve heard and it was really nice to hear Medicine Bow. Kim helped w/ Rolling in my Sweet Bay’s Arms, which really added to the song. Maybe the next time they play together Jason can join them and they can do more songs Here’s the set list:
Luna
WWJD?
Just a Rose
Let It Ride
Rollin’ in the Grasslands

I have to say I was impressed. When the noise started downstairs last night, I thought I wasn’t going to get a dam thing done tonight. And, I was right. It wasn’t because I was bothered by the noise, no, I came down for a better listen and guys rocked me all night. I hadn’t partied like that since the 20’s. I looked at your set list & I wrote it down to post it for you guys. Please come back and play here again so I don’t have to wait another eighty yrs for some good partying.

Hey guys, what a great show in the park Friday night. With all the craziness of this pass week I needed a quick break and I thought I'd head out to Oregon to see your band. Guys it was a great show; I’m glad I left the chaos of the elections earlier this week to get out and let loose. But, alas, I must get back and prove that I’m the candidate who knows what’s best for the state of Connecticut. And, we know third candidates in election always allows for the best man to win. 2000 proved that. Anyway ....
Thanks

I, too, would like to tell Stephen he’ll be missed. I remember what major leap forward Todd & Steve-o made when Stephen starting playing w/ them. The foundation of what became Silas started when Stephen joined the band. I remember the first time hearing him play was in the garage at the house on Tanney St. They were making an tape and Stephen broke out “Keep On Growing” and I was impressed. I quickly learned we shared a love in the early R&B Stones (you never did play “The Spider & the Fly” enough!) as well as Gram Parson. I knew he was an all right guy!
And, I think I can say from experience of seeing the band enough times over the years. From playing w/ Todd in my spare bedroom at the old Amazon apts., when he came over to my apartment, going on fifteen years ago, after he was crazy enough to hire me for a job at Creative Care, to Todd hooking up to play w/ Steve-o, and the various bands & players before the Flyen Sauces (wasn’t there someone named Willie in there somewhere?), John Palmer, all the various drummers (some were just mush) before the guys were lucky to find Sean, Scott joining somewhere along the way, all the shows at the Black Forest, both old & new, Stephen definitely added a major spark to solidify Todd & Steve-o and the music they were playing. Then Stephen got a new toy – the peddle steel guitar - which really added a whole new sound to the band. Stephen certainly was a major force of what became Silas.
Watching, and listening that Saturday at The Wetlands, knowing it was probably his last show with Silas, it was all too clear how good he is and what a loss it with be. But, in the same breath, I also know that Joe will be able to fill the sound nicely. Stephen and Chaonne, have fun in Philadelphia. It was good to know you guys. Stephen, I really will try & find my old friend Steve so you’ll have someone to jam with. Try to survive the humidity, go to the Philadelphia Folk Fest, the last weekend in August, at the Old Poole farm near Schwenksville, and remember “Go Flyers!”

Well, another kickass last night! If you’re not showing up, you’re missing out! The only fault was the show was too short, but the other bands were definitely good also. It would be good to see Salt Lick on the bill in the future. Also, sadly this may have been Stephan’s last show. Hopefully he’ll be able to make another show or two before he leaves for greener (grayer?) pastures. Anyway, here’s the set list:

Well guys, thanks for thinking of me this week during my difficulties. Honestly, I can’t believe all the hoopla. I was just trying to help to good people of my district – I swear! I think a little drawing and quartering would be appropriate for Mr. Delay. Burn his financial portfolio in front of him while it's being done. A real Christian that Mr.Delay. Back in the days when I was riding with the cossacks we would have eliminated him for this spiritual hypocrisy. Yep, would have dragged him behind a horse for a few hundred miles or until he completely disintegrated.

Thank you for your comments "Mr. Cheney." Try to refrain from using profanity on the site or your comments will be removed. We have discussed doing an cd called, "A Very Silas Christmas." Although not necessarily patriotic, it might be a compromise you would find acceptable. How about, "Have a Holly Jolly Wiretap." By golly, that would be a good Christmas song. Perhaps a cd with childrens songs. A hit song might be "The Karmic Wheels On the Bus Go Round and Round." The wheel might be heading your way.

You know guys, people think I'm secretive and stiff and all that, but I'm an old fan of americana and early rock and roll. In fact, I played with Bobby Vee's back up band in the late 50's. That band included a young Bobby Zimmerman on keys for a little while. So just for the record, I like SILAS' sound. The problem I have is with your naive worldview. We're a nation at WAR and you need to realize that. You think it's easy being in my position as the LEADER of the only remaining superpower. And Dennis, you think your pretty cute with that "big time puppeteer" shit on the song WWJD?. Well let me tell you something son, we're onto you guys and you better watch your step. Why don't you write some patriotic commercial material that could get played on CMT instead of this "Thousand Children" drivel. Might even get you out of this wussy socio political head space your in and turn SILAS into a band worthy of the AMERICANa label.

Furthermore, rock is tired of living under the tyranny of a lawless dictator. We now know that paper and scissors used chemical weapons on their own rocks. That's why the U.S., as the world's one remaining superpower, must liberate rock and build a free democratic society with corporate capitalism as the cornerstone (ie: oil in the rocks). Hopefully the rest of the world will witness this process and can then get their rocks off too.

Anyone who missed Saturdays show at Luna, missed what had to be one of the best Silas shows yet. The guys played an acoustic show with Jeremiah sitting in playing a stand up bass allowing Stephen to play petal steel all-night. Scott played a piano; Todd played an acoustic guitar and only Steve-o and Sean playing “normally.” And, the results were incredible. Hopefully, the guys will do more shows in this nature in the future and again, if you weren’t there, you missed out. The show was taped however, so hopefully copies of the show will be available.
Here’s the list:

Guy is on the road. Stops into a bar for a beer. Sitting at the bar and remembers he left his car unlocked. Runs outside. Sure enough! Two more accordions next to his other one.
